Your First Visit: What To Expect
Welcome!
On your first visit to Franklin Smiles, we’ll take some time to get acquainted before performing a thorough examination. You’ll want to allow an hour for this comprehensive initial appointment.
Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by our office staff, who will also verify that all of your paperwork has been completed. For your convenience, you can fill out your new patient forms online ahead of time. If you prefer to fill them out in our reception area, please allow yourself plenty of time to do so by arriving 15 minutes prior to your appointment time.
At the start of your appointment, our staff will escort you to the consultation room, where Dr. Weber will be pleased to meet you. Here you will have the opportunity to get acquainted as well as mention any current dental health concerns you would like to address. Then, Dr. Weber will review your dental history with you before leading you back to a treatment room for your exam.
What Will My First Exam Include?
Your exam will begin with the use of our in-office technology to obtain photos and x-rays that provide a complete picture of your dental and oral health. We’ll take some initial photographs as well as a series of x-rays that provide an up-close look at each individual section of teeth. We’ll also complete a panoramic dental x-ray, which provides a full-mouth view of the upper and lower jaws and all teeth in one singular image.
Next, Dr. Weber will conduct a comprehensive intraoral exam, including an oral cancer screening. During the exam, he will examine and assess the health of your teeth, gums, and other mouth tissues. At the conclusion of the exam, he’ll bring you back to the consultation room to share the results of the examination. Here, Dr. Weber will show you the photos and point out any areas of concern. Then, he will discuss your treatment options. Our office staff will be on hand to help you get scheduled for your treatment appointment, if needed.
Your Dental Cleaning
We like to focus on doing a thorough comprehensive exam for your first appointment and will generally schedule your cleaning for a separate day. Occasionally, a basic cleaning isn’t the appropriate treatment. But if it’s important to you to have your cleaning on the same day, let us know and we will try to work out scheduling that for you.
