Botched Dental Implant Case

Posted by Annmarie SanSevero

I’m in a pickle. I had a full set of dental implants placed from this dentist who was way more affordable than everyone else. But, the rest of the procedure isn’t completed. I hadn’t heard from the dentist for the completion and my mouth was starting to hurt. I kept calling and they kept blowing me off. Finally, I went to see him in person. He was gone. Not only did he abandon his business, but he also fled the country. Now I’m stuck with a mouth full of half done dental work. What do I do?

Dear Deanna,

Implant supported dentures

Unfortunately, I don’t think you are going to be able to get your money back. My guess is if he fled the country, you won’t be able to find him. And, if you did, extradition would be tricky. This is an example of when finding a dentist who is cheaper than anyone else, does not turn out to be an affordable option.

Here is what I recommend you do. First, go to see a skilled implant dentist and have them look at your case. You want to make sure that your dental implants are in good shape. That will be the best case scenario. If they are, then you can have that same dentist finish the procedure for you.

If they aren’t okay, then you’re going to have to remove them, have bone grafting done, and then have new dental implants placed. After there is time for the bone to integrate with your dental implant, then you can have dentures anchored to them.

The good news is that implant supported dentures are the best tooth replacement option you could have chosen. I’m sorry the dentist you chose was a dud, but you did get the best procedure possible.
